SailSensor is a proprietary technology developed in Italy by Moxá Design, based on measuring the differential aerodynamic pressure on the sail and on a set of complementary modules. To protect this technology, patent applications have been filed with the UIBM — Italian Patent and Trademark Office.

At the heart of SailSensor is a precise physical principle: reading the sail's work through the difference in pressure between the windward and the leeward side, that is, the real aerodynamic load that generates lift. Around this principle sit complementary modules — boom angle measurement, true wind, a bridge to the onboard network — that make up the SailSensor ecosystem.
This technology is designed and developed in Italy by Moxá Design and distributed as SailSensor by CarveLab. It is neither a generic product nor merely a brand: it is a coherent set of technical solutions, of which the patent filings are the verifiable trace.

Boom angle measurement system. The application concerns the method and system by which SailSensor detects the boom angle in real time, wirelessly, as a sailing and trim parameter.
Sail trim assistant. SailTrim is the voice-assistant feature of the SailSensor app, which gives the crew real-time trim guidance based on the sensor data.
These are patent applications filed with the UIBM (Italian Patent and Trademark Office), not granted patents: as such they follow the examination process laid down by law. The filing numbers are provided to identify the technology.
A filing number with the UIBM is a verifiable, non-appropriable reference: it uniquely identifies the technology of SailSensor by CarveLab / Moxá Design. Unlike a mere name, it cannot be claimed by products that happen to share a similar designation.
