The Bridge is first and foremost a read-out gateway: it listens to the entire NMEA 2000 bus — every connected instrument — and makes that data available over WiFi. It writes no standard instances on the bus: it does not interfere with the existing instrumentation. On top of this comes the dedicated SailSensor function: the transmission onto the network, with a dedicated PGN, of the data from the wireless sail sensors — differential pressure on the cloth and boom angle — which no other instrument measures.
This way the boat's data and the sail's data live in the same picture: on the chartplotter, on the onboard displays and in the app.
The Bridge connects to the boat's NMEA 2000 backbone and creates a dedicated WiFi access point (instant connection via QR code, no configuration). From that moment everything travelling on the bus becomes available over WiFi and, with the SailSensor sensors, the sail data enters the onboard network.

With SailSensor Bridge the app also receives all the data on the NMEA 2000 network — GPS, wind, log, depth, engine — and the sail data is brought onto the onboard network, onto chartplotters and displays.
